Violinists of all nationalities are welcome to participate in the international concert competition "Debut at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg".

Age limit

Any violin player born after November 2nd, 1980 is allowed to apply.

Program

  • One work of your choice for violin and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for two violins and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for violin, piano and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for violin, cello and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for violin, viola and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for violin, cello, piano and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min. or
  • One work of your choice for violin, one, two or three additional instruments and orchestra, between 10 and 45 min.

In the case of performing a piece for violin and additional instruments with orchestra, each soloist must submit an application.

A recorded video of your performance of chosen work (accompanied by an orchestra or a pianist, studio or live recording) must be submitted as YouTube- or Vimeo-link, DVD, USB-Stick etc. or another media available for download. The video must be submitted before January 10th, 2017 by e-mail or post. Separate applications from the same person performing different works are allowed (application fees apply separately).

Your application will only be processed after receiving the application fee.
The application fee is non-refundable in case of incomplete or cancelled application.

Regulations

January 10th, 2017 – application deadline in all categories for the international concert competition „Debut at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg“. All applicants will be assigned an application number and listed on the website by January 20th, 2017. After the deadline, the jury will select the winners in each of the categories: Violin, Cello, Piano and Conducting, basing on the video recordings submitted. The points awarded by the jury will be announced on the website. In the composers category, only one work will be selected and admitted directly for The Debut at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg.

The Debut Concert

The award ceremony and the debut of the first winners with KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg will take place on February 23rd, 2017 in at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. The second winner in the category Conducting will perform in the second half of The Debut Concert. The audition of the selected candidates in categories Violin, Cello and Piano will take place in Hamburg two days before the debut concert – on 21st of February 2017 at 11:00 a.m. – by the jury presence of the International Concert Competition - Debut at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. The rehearsals for the concert are on February 22nd, 2017, and the final rehearsal is on February 23rd, 2017 at 4pm. For the first prize winners of the International Concert Competition – Debut at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg – travel costs will be covered by the competition office and hotel will be provided. International press and music agents will be invited to the debut concert. The concert will be recorded on audio and video. Submitting an application, the participant accepts the rules and conditions of the competition. The chosen piece is not subject to change. Modifications or changes are not allowed. The jury decisions are final and not to be discussed. There is no legal recourse. In case of doubt the German text applies. The prizes may be shared between participants (except the 1st prize). The jury has the right not to award prize. Participants agree that The Debut Concert will be recorded audio-visually. The organizer is entitled to use these recordings at any time commercially and non-commercially and / or to allow further use by third parties. This includes all forms of use (audio-visual media, print and online media, broadcasting, streaming and download). Participants transfer all images- and sound-related rights the organizer free of charge. A fee claims for recordings and re-use are not accepted.
