Born in the heart of Siberia, Natalia Prishepenko started her musical education with her mother, Tamara Prischepenko, a famous USSR teacher and her mentor until today. She performed in many venues and won many international competition in the ex-USSR (Wienlawski and All Union competitions) before entering Lübeck’s Musikhochschule in 1989, staying until the end of her studies with David Geringas. In the following years, she won many famous competition prizes (Paganini in 1990, Tokyo in 1992 and Queen Elisabeth in 1993). She therefore became internationally known and started touring as a solist in many places around Europe, Russia and Japan. During 18 years (from 1994 until 2012), Natalia Prischepenko was the Artemis Quartet first violin. With the Quartet, she won the Munich ARD first prize in 1996 and the puis Paolo Borciani Competition first prize in 1997. Since its debuts at the Berlin Philarmonic in 1999, the Artemis Quartet has been performing in the greatest venues and most important international festivals; its many recordings have been awarded with many prizes (Gramophone Award, Diapason d’Or, Echo-Klassik…). Natalia Prischepenko has been perfecting her skills with Walter Levin, members of the Alban Berg and Emerson Quartets, Alfred Brendel and David Geringas. Her encounter with the composers György Kurtág, Jörg Widmann, Luigi Nono and György Ligeti as well as her interactions with artists like Sabine Meyer, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Juliane Banse, Leif Ove Andsnes, Truls Mørk, Thomas Kakuska, Valentin Erben are essential to her. Natalia Prischepenko teaches at Berlin’s Universität der Künste ; she takes part in international chamber music and violin competitions as a member of the jury (Paolo Borciani, Robert-Schumann, Bayreuth, Queen Elisabeth, ARD Munich).
